March/April 2012 Issue
Over the past 13 years of my walk with Christ, I have
heard several sermons pertaining to forgiveness. As a
young Christian, I had to learn about true forgiveness. I
was never in situations where I had to forgive someone
for a terrible act against me – until I reached my late 20s.
My husband pointed out “Hagar is
not the story here.”  Well, no.  She
is not “the” story but she has a
story, one that some of us need to
hear, so let’s listen as God
shares the story of Hagar.
Have you ever been in a situation
where you had absolutely no say
in what happens to you?  I’m not
talking limited—no say.  Hagar
was a slave.
Hagar The Woman Betrayed by Cathryn Judkins
The central point that I want to get to in the Scripture
above is how the Apostle Paul took the Gospel and
challenged, and most of the time later on, beat the idols
that existed in the culture he was speaking to. He spoke
towards the idols of peoples hearts. Therefore you can’t
preach the Gospel in an effective way without first getting
to the hearts of the listeners. Paul always discerned,
exposed, and challenged the idols.

I have started and restarted this article
a half dozen times now.  Trying to figure
out where to begin.  Finally, I decided to
begin where I began.  Looking for what
was on my agenda for today.  I would
get up in the morning and really have
no idea what was going on.  What
needed to be done?  What would we
eat for dinner?  Would I find time to
write or work on my quilts?

The confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the
living God and the heart of the Christian faith.  This is
foundation for Paul’s writing and for every believer’s
faith.
The Colossae church was asking this very question
“who is Jesus really?”   Today the church is asking this
same question.  Who is Jesus really?  And how do I
know the difference between religion and relationship?
Paul spoke in a way and using a language the
Colossians would understand.  Cathryn goes through
Paul’s letter to the Colossian church verse by verse.
She looks at Paul’s message to them and speaks it to
us in today’s modern womaneze.
Who is Christ and how can I have a true relationship
with him?

Confronting Christ

The world today is telling us that we
must be Super Women; women who can
work both outside and inside the home,
women who can do everything and do it
successfully.  Well, it’s time we stop
listening to the world, take off the
Superwoman costume and learn what
God wants us to be.
I began this journey looking for myself.
You see I was lost.  My identity had
always been centered on my children.
They dictated my wardrobe.  But who
are you and how do you dress when
your youngest child becomes an adult?
I couldn’t base my wardrobe on my job,
I’m a substitute teacher, and there isn’t enough to base an identity on.
I didn’t want to base my wardrobe on “housewife” I hate cleaning.  So
what was I to do, my identity closet was empty, I had nothing to wear.
A Godly Wardrobe is based on Proverbs 31:10-31.  Each chapter
introduces a new piece of clothing to our Spiritual closet.  We can try it
out for fit and color preference, and hopefully become comfortable
wearing it before we reach for the next item from God’s wardrobe.  God
knows each of us are different sizes and have different skin tones,
likes and dislikes.  Although the clothing might be my size, if it isn’t my
color I won’t wear it.  Likewise, if it just doesn’t quite fit right it will stay
hanging in my closet.  God’s Women is not one size fits all nor one
color palate.  She will not be found hanging on racks in any store, and
you will never walk into a place and find someone wearing your outfit.
God has a wardrobe designed just for you and only for you. Come find
out what it consists of.

Jane was an active woman. She worked long hours in an effort to
further her career, took care of her children and still found time to
spend with family and friends. Running was a passion she had deep
inside and she began training for a marathon. She was a go-getter
who stopped only to sleep for a few hours and then she was off
again until one fateful evening changed everything. Follow Jane's
journey and see how she learned to rely on the Lord in all
circumstances and eventually found a diagnosis and the ultimate
healing.
The Feast of Tabernacles was commanded by God in Leviticus 23:41-43 when God
commanded a festival that lasted seven days in the seventh month. God ordered this festival to
be a lasting ordinance for future generations. This festival was a reminder of God’s care of his
people during their forty years of wandering in the wilderness.
